Titlescreen 0.1.1
Design a custom Minecraft Java pause menu in your own browser Studio. Titlescreen turns a green layout mask into pixel artwork, adds styled buttons, text and decorations, and exports the resource-pack files for ItemsAdder, Nexo or both.
Minecraft still controls the real buttons and their actions. Titlescreen styles those controls; decorative panels do not become extra clickable buttons or server commands.
Editor features
- Green-mask detection with native click-area guides and Fit Native alignment.
- Independent classic, Minecraft 26.2 and Minecraft 26.3 designs.
- Whole-pixel positioning, tiled button pieces, frames, borders, corners and decorative layers.
- Text editing, fonts, palettes, outlines, shadows and configurable pixel shading.
- Per-button styling, apply-to-all controls, layer ordering, undo and redo.
- Custom PNG artwork, button styles, layout masks, TrueType fonts and bitmap fonts.
- Browser and server-side project saving, with authenticated publishing.
- Provider exports and an optional supplemental compatibility pack.
Requirements and verification
Install Titlescreen on a Paper-family backend, including a backend behind Velocity. It is not a Velocity proxy plugin. Use Java 25 for Paper 26.3; older servers must use the runtime required by their server build. The plugin retains its Paper 1.21.8 / Java 21 compile baseline.
The final 0.1.1 JAR passed startup, Studio listener initialization and clean shutdown on Paper 26.3 build 157 BETA with Java 25. Purpur and Folia are integration targets, and the plugin declares Folia support, but this release check did not run those servers or verify client gameplay.
| Integration | When it is needed |
|---|---|
| ItemsAdder or Nexo | Publishing through the selected provider. Install each selected provider separately in a version compatible with your server. |
| ViaVersion on the backend | Optional original-client protocol diagnostics when translating versions. Proxy-only translation can hide that information. |
| Accessible HTTP(S) pack address | Optional Titlescreen supplemental pack delivery. |
Studio can start without the optional provider plugins. For provider publishing, configure the chosen integration and verify the final merged pack. Players must accept the resource pack to see the menu artwork.
Client layouts
| Client | Native multiplayer layout | Pack format |
|---|---|---|
| 1.21.8–26.1.x | Classic eight-button layout | 64–84 |
| 26.2 | Nine buttons, including four small icons | 88 |
| 26.3 | Ten buttons, with Options and World Options sharing a row | 97.1 |
Server links or a custom pause dialog add a row in 26.2 and 26.3, bringing those layouts to ten and eleven buttons. For classic clients, the corresponding additions replace the feedback/bug row. Set the server additions consistently across all saved designs.
These layouts were checked against native client definitions and automated geometry/export tests. Client mods such as Mod Menu, preview releases and unknown future protocols are not assigned a guessed layout. Actual hover areas, native icons, notifications and GUI scales still need checking in-game.
Installation and first menu
- Back up your Titlescreen project and provider packs. Stop the server, put
Titlescreen.jarinplugins, replace any old Titlescreen JAR and restart. - Review
plugins/Titlescreen/config.yml. Studio defaults to127.0.0.1:8766with an API token. Run/titlescreen webas an administrator to see its address. - For remote access, configure
web.public-urland use an authenticated HTTPS reverse proxy. Keep the Studio token private. - Open or import your design. Select Client layout and the correct server-links/dialog setting, then use Layout → Fit Native and check the click-area guides.
- Review the classic, 26.2 and 26.3 designs separately. Each keeps its own artwork. Enable Include classic, 26.2 and 26.3 designs when you need all three.
- Select ItemsAdder, Nexo or both in Publish. Publish and let the selected providers rebuild.
- Reconnect with the updated pack. Test every real button, hover target, language and GUI scale you support.
Imported layouts can decorate Minecraft’s controls, but cannot move their real hitboxes. Keep native icon and notification areas transparent when those client-rendered details should remain visible.
Upgrading to 26.3
An old eight-button or 26.2-only pack does not contain the new 26.3 layout. Open your saved project, switch to the 26.3 profile and fit its ten-button layout, including the new World Options control. Review the other profiles before regenerating the pack.
Three-layout exports contain a classic base, a titlescreen_social overlay for format 88 and a titlescreen_world overlay for format 97.1. Minecraft selects the artwork through its pack format. The final provider ZIP must retain those overlays, root metadata, fonts and language entries. A single-layout export is bounded to that layout’s supported range.
Publishing and pack delivery
| Output | Location |
|---|---|
| Working output | plugins/Titlescreen/generated/ |
| Compatibility ZIP | plugins/Titlescreen/generated/compatibility/titlescreen.zip |
| Geometry/version report | plugins/Titlescreen/generated/compatibility/report.json |
| ItemsAdder content | plugins/ItemsAdder/contents/<namespace>/resourcepack/ |
| Current Nexo external pack | plugins/Nexo/pack/external_packs/Titlescreen.zip |
Automatic provider rebuilding is enabled by default. ItemsAdder rebuilds with /iazip; the current Nexo workflow uses /nexo reload pack. Provider merging and other resource packs can affect the result, so inspect the finished pack and verify it with a player.
If the provider merge loses version overlays, optional supplemental delivery can offer Titlescreen’s own compatibility ZIP. It is disabled by default. Set pack-delivery.enabled: true and an externally reachable pack-delivery.public-url, or use web.public-url as the fallback. Minecraft must be able to download /packs/<sha1>.zip without a Studio login; administrative routes remain protected.
Supplemental delivery checks the ZIP’s format range and the known client protocol before sending it. It skips unsupported or unknown clients. It does not make an older pack compatible with 26.3; publish the required profile first. Avoid conflicting font or widget overrides from multiple pack owners.
Commands
| Command | Purpose |
|---|---|
/titlescreen web |
Show the private Studio address. |
/titlescreen export |
Direct you to Studio’s Export pack action, which includes the current rendered artwork. |
/titlescreen reload |
Reload configuration and the saved menu project. |
Aliases are /escmenu and /pausemenu. Commands require titlescreen.admin; reload additionally checks titlescreen.reload. Studio’s API uses its configured token.
Changes in 0.1.1
- Added the separate Minecraft 26.3 profile and World Options button geometry.
- Added format 97.1 overlays and protocol 777 recognition.
- Kept classic, 26.2 and 26.3 artwork independent in the editor and export validation.
- Added pack-range checks so a format-88 pack is not offered to a known 26.3 client.
- Updated setup and integration documentation.
Release checks: 66 Java tests, 337 browser-code tests, TypeScript and lint checks, plus native Paper 26.3 startup and shutdown. Native-client visual checks, paid-provider merges and Folia/Purpur runtime checks remain outside this release’s verification scope.
Artwork and further help
The purchase covers the plugin and editing/export tools; it does not transfer ownership of third-party artwork. Use included assets for your own server’s finished menu within the supplied terms. Do not extract, redistribute or resell the library or use it to sell menu designs or asset services. Creator licences still apply, and custom uploads must be files you have permission to use.
The download includes docs/compatibility-upgrade.md and docs/integrations.md for layout selection, delivery, migration and recovery. Keep backups of your project and last working provider pack when upgrading or changing namespaces.
